meta-xylene is an aromatic hydrocarbon that has a benzene ring and two methyl groups attached to it. The most important application of meta-xylene is in the production of isophthalic acid. meta-xylene has neuropathic effects.

The raw material is synthetic paints, pharmaceuticals, insecticides, and solvents. The most commonly used meta-xylene is in the production of isophthalic acid, which is used in the production of PET copolymer.
