Paraxylene
Para-xylene is an organic compound of the family of aromatic hydrocarbons. Para-xylene is one of the xylene isomers with a benzene ring and two methyl groups attached to it. The most important application of para-xylene is in the production of isophthalic acid. Para-xylene affects the brain and can cause dizziness.
Para represents the position of the two methyl bundles along each other on the benzene ring. Other xylene isomers include o-xylene and m-xylene. Para-xylene is widely used in the production of terephthalic acid for polyester. The polymer derived from it is known as Parylene.
